Nonghyup Bank has filed a suit against the cryptocurrency exchange Coinis, saying its freezing of Coinis accounts was legal and justifiable.

The bank filed the counter-suit after the exchange won a legal battle against the bank for halting Coinis from withdrawing from and depositing cash with the bank. Late last month, the Seoul court said it is illegal for the bank to freeze Coinis accounts.

However, the bank said it froze the accounts as the exchange is open to money laundering, voicephishing, and other crimes.

A Nonghyup spokesman said its compliance officers concluded that Coinis is exposed to crime funds although the other exchanges Bithumb and Coinone have no problem.
