The central government has included Jeju’s project of developing the island as the blockchain hub in the five-year national projects for balanced regional development.
This would pave the way for Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong’s push to make the island as the hub for blockchain.
A Jeju official welcomed the move, and said the island would hold a series of hearings to pool public opinion ahead of applying for designating the island as the ‘regulation-free special business district.’
