Korea’s largest portal Naver got a license to do Internet banking business in Taiwan through its subsidiary Line.

Line would use artificial intelligence, Big Data, and fintech to do banking service. Line has 21 million users in Taiwan.

Line will hold a 49.9 percent stake in the banking business, with the other shareholders including Standard & Chartered Bank, Union Bank, Taiwan Mobile, and others.

Line has also preparing to open a digital banking business in Thailand and Indonesia. In May, it has already begun the Line Bank in Japan for starting smart banking business next year.
