Korea’s cryptocurrency exchange Pure-Bit is under police investigation for illegally withdrawing 40,000 Ethereum (equal to 9.8 billion won) from the accounts of investors.

The National Police Agency confirmed yesterday that it accepted complaints from investors and kicked off a probe into the Pure-Bit’s breach of trust with investors.

In a statement, Pure-Bit apologized for committing the wrongdoing, and it pledged to return half of the investment to investors. It also said it would later return the remaining half to the investors.

Just three days ago before it illegally withdrew the investor fund, it had publicized that investors would share profits of its exchange when they hold its PURE coins. It also promised to return trading fees to investors in the form of its Pure Coin.
