Doonamoo CEO Lee Sir-goo is accompanying President Moon Jae-in on a visit to North European countries, including Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
Lee is the only CEO from the domestic blockchain industry among the 118 executives of the startup companies traveling with Presidentm Moon.
Lee’s visit has symbolic meanings. Except for the four cryptocurrency exchanges, Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, and Korbit, no exchange cannot open real-name accounts with investors. Last year, the Justice Ministry said the government might shut down cryptocurrency exchanges.
Blockchain companies have been barred from remitting funds overseas. Many blockchain developers and cryptocurrency traders hope that President Moon would take a proactive action to stimulate the emerging business.
