Blockchain platform Glosfer will participate in the construction of a smart city in the southwestern Gwangju City.
Glosfer will provide its Hycon Enterprise Platform to the city to enable the blockchain-based reward system for the citizens.
Glosfer and non-chaebol companies formed a consortium to combine their solutions to the problems facing the city, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation.
The ministry picked Glosfer and its consortium through open bidding to create a smart city in Gwangju.
Gwangju citizens would propose suggestions through the Glosfer blockchain platform to help solve the problems the city faces. Once the suggestions get adopted, citizens could get rewards, the ministry said.
Glosfer called this process as a model for realizing the ‘citizen-led data democracy.’ The project will take off next year after a trial operation this year.
