Five blockchain projects would change our daily lives this year. Let’s look at each of the five pioneering projects.

Ethereum, frontrunner in creating the blockchain ecology

Russian software programmer Vitalik Buterin developed Ethereum in 2015, mostly to supplement shortcomings of Bitcoin.


Ethereum enables people to sign smart contracts through blockchain technology. Many Ethereum-based projects will debut in the years to come.


The Entereum Enterprise Alliance (EEA) has been expanding influence since its establishment in 2017. The EEA’s goal is to invite all Fortune 500 companies as its members.


Currently, Samsung SDS, Deloitte, Intel, and JP Morgan are members of the alliance.

Ripple, window for global cash remittance

Ripple Pay debut ed 2004 for a real-time global cash remittance through banks. In 2013, it issued Ripple coins.


Many global banks such as UBS have partnered with Ripple for global cash remittance.

Hyperledger, standard for private blockchain

The Hyperledger is a global blockchain consortium to introduce distributed ledgers and smart contracts through blockchain technologies.


LG CNS joined the Hyperledger last year. It has been developing its blockchain platform Monachain.

About 200 companies, including IBM, Intel, JP Morgan, and Hitachi are members of the Hyperledger.

Vechain, manager for logistics

Vechain is a platform that manages corporate distribution and logistics system. Many companies have used the private blockchain service since 2015. It opened the public blockchain main net in 2017.


The system enables companies to track and record all issues involving distributions. The system is transparent and prevents forgery.

Currently, the system applies to manage the delivery of pharmaceutical products, livestock, and cars.


About 20 companies, including Microsoft, BMW, and PwC, are partners of Vechain.

Argo, blockchain project for companies.

The project first got finance from December 2014 and has been receiving a steady stream of funds from investors.

Hyundai, Lotte Card, Samsung SDS, LG CNS, and Kia Motors are users of Argo. The Bank of Korea also used Argo technology.


Argo is the ready-made blockchain platform that every company can use. Many companies are likely to use the system this year.
