The South Korean government would set in motion a blockchain platform for managing port logistics and tracing the origin of beef.

The plan came out after the government activated a blockchain platform for tracking movements of containers in the ports, and tracing foreign products imported through e-commerce.

The government has begun to use the blockchain technology in public services, without issuing initial coin offerings.

However,  the private sectors have been slow in commercializing blockchain technologies for consumers.

Many analysts said blockchain developers must commercialize killer contents for consumers before asking the government to permit them to issue ICOs.“Without viable contents, developers would face obstacles in mobilizing funds,” a Seoul professor said.

Kim Ui-sok, leader of the KOMSCO blockchain development team, said, “Until consumers experience blockchain technology in their daily lives, public skepticism would not subside.”

He said, “People appreciate Kakao Talk and Facebook.” The two companies could become profitable after consumers appreciate their contents.”  In the same way, developers must put forward DApps, which consumers could widely use, he added.
