Doonamu CEO Lee Sirgoo has said the blockchain market provides both risk and opportunity.

In a recent speech before blockchain producers on the Jeju Island, he said many people still portray the blockchain and cybercurrency market as speculative, fraudulent and pyramid-marketing oriented. He hoped blockchain producers would clear away such negative description.

He said blockchain producers would prove that blockchain technology will accelerate decentralization, guarantee anonymity and cybersecurity. He acknowledged that skeptics still question whether blockchain will ensure decentralization, anonymity, and safety.

He categorically said blockchain and cryptocurrency are inseparable. His remark indicates that like a two-wheel of a carriage, blockchain and cryptocurrency will go hand in hand, dismissing the emerging view that the two can be developed separately.

The operator of the Upbit cybercurrency exchange said Korean policymakers and blockchain developers should join hands to create the ecology for blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Lee is the founding members of South Korea’s most popular mobile messenger Kakao Talk. He has served as the co-chief executive of Daum Kakao Corp. He is now the CEO of the Upbit Exchange.
